The Brunch Before the Storm

Happy Sunday, everyone. Hope you’ve had a nice weekend. Things have been a little weird this weekend, what with the full moon/hurricane weather and scheduled mass transit shutdown, but I managed to enjoy myself.

Saturday evening, I met up for drinks with some of the other interns, and this morning I went to Queens to help prep for a Halloween Hangover Brunch/horror movie marathon my friends were hosting at their place. By the time everyone arrived, we had quite the spread…

I contributed the salad, muffins, apple crisp (loosely based on this recipe), and wine. The hostess made the lovely spinach pie, which had a nice kick to it, thanks to some cayenne pepper. The pies are from a local bakery. There was a really good turnout and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. I’m glad I got out and saw some friends before the storm hits.

I really have no idea what to expect for the next few days. My Monday night class got cancelled, so that’s one less unknown to worry about, but work is another story. The interns have been asked to hail a cab and come in if we can, so I guess we will see…

Be safe, everyone!
