Happy Thursday. How’s your 2013 going so far? I was lucky enough to be off both Tuesday and yesterday, and it was a good thing, because when I woke up Wednesday morning, I felt like I’d been hit by something heavier than the usual weird-dream truck. I did some gentle yoga, got a little of the work done that I’d set aside, and even threw in some laundry.

My mom called late in the morning to see if I wanted to get lunch. Long story short, a couple hours later, I was sitting with her and my dad in Shun Lee, the famous NYC Chinese spot. It was my first time there, but I knew that hot, spicy food would hit the spot.

I started with hot & sour soup and shared some steamed veggie dumplings with my mom. For our entree, we also split some grilled fish and Szechuan vegetables. I think the eggplant and the scallions were my favorite. IMG_1353

It was exactly what I needed. I also got a kick out of my fortune cookie.

...in bed

…in bed

Interestingly, it echoed something I’d been thinking and writing about earlier in the day (if maybe not quite the “in bed” part), so hey, I’ll take the little dose of synchronicity.

Any memorable fortune cookie fortunes you want to share?
